Off the Wagon
I fell off the wagon for about two weeks. It started with the end of last week – I started to get a bad cold that left me out of commission and because it was like 20 degrees and I had a sinus headache the size of Texas (and one blocked nostril) I bailed on the five mile race. I would have likely ended up with bronchitis and well…no one wants that. So I’ve still been working with my trainer...

– via the Boston Globe Is it just me or have girls gotten worse since I was in school??? I mean, just wow! Who is letting this happen? Where are the teachers when that girl got punched in the head? Every single person who saw it going on but turned their head…is in my mind…an enabler and...

I couldn’t have asked for a better day to stay at home, write, and stay in my pajamas. Being sick does have some upsides (ish. Okay…maybe not).

Today I ran – even if it was only on a treadmill – and i was determined to keep a sub 12:00 pace. 12:00 has been the average pace of my marathons (well…ish). By the way, apparently the gym is not necessarily the place to be on a sunday afternoon. Splits: mile 1: 11:39 mile 2: 11:31 mile 3: 11:28 mile 4: 11:21 mile 5: 10:31 time: 56:30 total workout: 60 minutes. 5.17 avg pace: 11:32 All in...

At a toasty 19 degrees, I think…I’m just going to go run 5 miles on the treadmill. As much as I hate the treadmill, i value not having frostbite because I haven’t bought a running headband or gloves (like this and these from Lululemon). So indoors I go. Wamp wamp. At least I can fit in 1.3 miles running to and fro the gym so I really only have to run about 4 miles on the...

A lesson in house hunting
Hubs makes me stabby when it comes to house hunting. He’s looking for DIY projects - two houses which may have been built in 1799 and 1900 respectively (one with knob and tube electrical) that I was afraid were death traps. Another HUD owned property in Waterbury that I was afraid I was going to breathe in asbestos and smelled ridiculously funny. All in all, out of five properties today,...

The One Week Digital Cleanse
jhnmyr: Mention to anyone with computer savvy that your laptop has somehow gotten slower over recent months and they’ll ask you the same thing: “have you defragmented your hard drive?” Defragmenting works by taking small slivers of information stored in various locations and consolidating them so that they’re in the same place on the drive and thus easier to access in larger chunks. Hard drive...
